Good Stuff Mates!!

Hey all,

things have been pretty wild here at YWAM Maui. I realized this week that we are half way through our lecture phase on the base. It has definitely flown by! Thankyou to all those who have followed this blog and supported me in prayer thus far. It has been an awesome month here and I am so excited for the next few months. It truly gets better every week around here. People are getting rocked, set free, coming alive to Jesus, and growing a heart for missions. It is an unfolding drama of God's handiwork. There is no place I would rather be.

Our Nepal team is a group of world changers! We have really been growing close as a team through prayer and ministry together. We have been able to process the lecture content together and to grow our heart for Nepal as we prepare for outreach. Soon the team that is currently in Nepal will be returning to help train us and debrief us on their outreach experience. If you would like to get a taste of what outreach will be like for us, check out this video that a team made 2 years ago.

We are getting more and more excited for Nepal every day. The guys on our team decided to bless the girls with a valentines dinner tonight. It was an awesome night of laughter, good food, and nonsense!

As for me, I have been really growing in my heart for people. It has been crazy to come here after spending four years at Moody studying. I think that I could study the bible for the rest of my life, but there is really nothing more exciting than to see God impact peoples lives. To see heaven touch earth. To actually be a vessel of God's redemption in peoples lives. To see people change supernaturally before your eyes. To go from hatred to love. To go from loving self to loving God. To go from living aimlessly to having deep and significant purpose. To see people encounter the living, eternal, everlasting, loving, holy, intimate, personal, powerful, ever present, unchanging savior. This is truly living. I get to wake up every day to see what God will do in people's lives. I am constantly learning, growing, being challenged and discovering more of God's character. So thank you to all for continuing to support me in prayer. It has meant a great deal, and prayer changes things!

If you would, please pray about supporting some of the members on our Nepal team. One girl in particular is in need of a few thousand dollars of financial support before she can go on outreach. We watched God provide over 1600 dollars for her in 48 hours last week and we are praying for the same in the days to come.

If you would like to support her, please contact me.

Team Nepal!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you team Nepal 2014!!

After letting the students pray over the different outreach locations, the final teams were recently selected. I have been chosen to lead this team to the country of Nepal. My Co-leader, Katya, is on the far left. The girls in the back are (left to right) Kelsey, Victoria, Bex, Amy, Brittany, and Brianna. The two guys are Ian and Adam. I am extremely excited to lead this amazing team. Even when I met the two guys on our team in the first week I felt like I had known them for many years. We have really bonded together and they will be bring much joy and strength to our team. They are ridiculous and we are always laughing. We will go through the next three months of lecture phase growing and learning together, as well as preparing to go overseas in late March.

Over this past week we have spent time bonding together as a team, sharing our dreams and expectations. We will be taking some personality tests soon and really learning how we can function as a team and serve one another well. We want to learn to function as a family and to lean on one another in the work of Christ. We also really want to have fun together. There are so many awesome stories that I could already tell you about our team; God has really brought us together purposefully. We have also spent some considerable time interceding for the country of Nepal already.

Nepal has historical been very hostile to the gospel and Christianity. YWAM Maui has had the privilege of working with the same contact in Nepal for the past 12 years. There has been an incredible amount of groundwork laid in the country that we will be able to build on. The current team that is there has already seen over 200 people come to Jesus. We are truly believing for God to do amazing things in our midst there, and we are going to be sowing into prayer over the country every week for the next three months as a team.

This lecture week is on hearing the voice of God. It has been amazing to see some of the students come alive to the living and active Word of God, and to hear him speak clearly and powerfully into their lives. The Holy Spirit longs to give us vision for God's life lived through us, and so many on our team are coming alive to his ministry in their lives. What a privilege to be a part of! Please be praying for our team to continue to bond together in the unity of Christ as we prepare to take the gospel to Nepal. To Know God and To Make Him Known! This is the motto of YWAM. We are truly living in special times. Thankyou all for your continued prayer and support. More to come!

The Students Are Here!!

The students have all arrived safely. Opening night was last Saturday, and the 28 DTS students represent eight different countries. The base leader, Tom Osterhus, spent some time explaining the rich spiritual heritage of YWAM Maui. We had an amazing time of worship that night. I was truly overwhelmed at God's faithfulness to be a part of the movement of God in YWAM Maui. There is a powerful work of God that is going to take place over the next 6 months.

Another tradition of YWAM Maui is to take the students out into the Maui countryside to camp out for a few days. This is meant to be a bonding experience for the new students before launching into the DTS lecture phase. We had the privilege of camping on the north shore in view of the famous wave Peahi (Jaws). It definitely a choice location.

It was an awesome few days of sharing stories, eating basic food, showering never, pooping in the woods, and other things of that nature. We really had an awesome time, and it was a perfect start to the program. Now we are back on the base recovering, and getting ready to launch into this amazing season. Soon we will know our outreach teams, and then we will blink again and it will be over! I am very excited to see all that God is going to do! More to come mates.

Arrival

Well I have arrived in Maui!!

It has been an awesome few days here on the base. The Base Director talked for an hour about the history and legacy of YWAM Maui. It is amazing to think about how many lives have been transformed in this place. God has done some spectacular work here and overseas. I am honored to be a part of the heritage of YWAM. Our DTS leaders also had their baby this morning. The first baby of 2014 in Maui! We went to visit them this afternoon and see young baby Heath.

I should be able to post sometime again in the next few weeks. Students start pouring in tomorrow. My schedule as a DTS leader is going to be pretty hectic so I wont be able to post as much as I would like. If you want to reach me I have posted my email and address below.

Matthew 28:19-20

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
